Hands-on Ultrasound Guidance Workshop

Pre-registration Required – These workshops are for clinical physicians only and limited to ONE session per attendee. Please sign up for only one session, additional submissions will be rejected.

These 90-minute workshops will focus on the role of ultrasound as an important guidance technique for neurotoxin injections. Each workshop session will include:

  • A brief didactic review of ultrasound principles
  • Hands-on scanning practice, which will occur in small groups (two or three attendees per ultrasound device) supervised by an international expert

The overall goal of the workshops is to help attendees:

  • Understand the respective sonoacoustic properties of bone, muscle, nerve, tendon, and other soft tissues
  • Identify key muscles involved in upper and lower limb spasticity and/or dystonia, based on pattern recognition using ultrasound
  • Identify key muscles involved in movement disorders of the head and neck, as well as salivary glands contributing to sialorrhea, based on pattern recognition using ultrasound

The technical skills acquired during this workshop are designed to assist injectors with performing ultrasound-guided chemodenervation procedures in clinical practice.
