Abstract Virtual Administrator Review v2

This is an interesting abstract with results from BoNT a interventions in a large cohort of Primary lateral sclerosis (PLS) from retrospective chart reviews. PLS evolution resembles hereditary spastic paraplegia with disabling spasticity but most patients have a good life expectancy. 55 patients with PLS (para- or tetraparesia) were included, 44 received botulinum toxin injections, mostly performed in lowers limbs in order to ameliorate comfort or ambulation. Among the 44 patients treated with botulinum toxin injections, 28 patients (63.6%) were satisfied with the treatment. Twenty-two patients (50%) underwent botulinum toxin therapy for at least a year, 6 patients (13.6%) for more than 3 years. Study confirms that BoNT treatment of spasticity in PLS can relief spasticity in two thirds PLS patients.
