Paul Stenmark, PhD

Pål (Paul) Stenmark is a Professor of Neurochemistry and Associate Head of the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at Stockholm University. His research spans structural biology, biochemistry, and translational research, and he has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles (h-index 44). His work has led to three granted patents, multiple additional applications, and several licensed technologies.

Prof. Stenmark earned his PhD in Biochemistry from Stockholm University in 2005 and subsequently held research positions at the Karolinska Institute and The Scripps Research Institute before establishing his independent research group in 2008. His scientific achievements have been recognized with distinctions such as the Lindbomska Award from the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the Sven and Ebba-Christina Hagberg Prize.

In addition to his academic activities, Stenmark is active in innovation and entrepreneurship, serving as founder of several biotech companies, including DiffracTox AB and ToxoTech AB. He has supervised more than 30 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows and plays a leading role in biochemistry education at Stockholm University. He is also an organizer of several major international scientific conferences.
