Professor Areerat Suputtitada, MD, is a globally distinguished rehabilitation physician and neurotoxin expert recognized for advancing botulinum toxin therapy, spasticity management, and complex pain intervention. She pioneered low-dose botulinum toxin regimens for hot-climate countries and developed the ultrasound-guided mechanical needling with sterile water technique for calcification and fibrosis removal. She also established an optimized ultrasound-guided botulinum toxin injection approach at the brachial plexus for the management of complex regional pain syndrome.
She is the author of more than 150 peer-reviewed publications and has contributed to major international consensus statements and guidelines, including landmark works published in the European Journal of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine and Toxins. Professor Suputtitada is a Full Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, and serves as Site/Group Director for the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research (PPCR) Program at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Harvard University, Boston, USA.
She has delivered over 200 invited international lectures and has received numerous national and international honors, including the Lifetime Global Aging Influencer Award (2018), the ICCC Caring Citizen of the Year Award at the United Nations, and the ISPRM Individual Honor Roll Member Award (2024). She became a Full Professor at the age of 36. Her subsequent leadership roles and international honors reflect the continued impact of her clinical excellence, research, and global academic leadership.
